Daniel Shim

Born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Daniel Shim received his JD from Emory University in 1992, and his BA in History, with Distinction, from Duke University in 1989. His award winning senior thesis brought Dan to Atlanta and the Carter Library for the first time during the summer of 1988. His most memorable law school encounter was bumping into and almost knocking over former President Jimmy Carter, a guest lecturer, while trying to get to class during his first week at Emory.

Dan was admitted to the Georgia Bar in May of 1992, and was a general practice attorney for over 25 years. He has represented individuals and small businesses in a wide variety of manners - personal injury, wrongful death, criminal defense, family law, Social Security Disability, appellate litigation, wills, probate litigation, small business litigation, and collections - before narrowing his practice areas to personal injury, wrongful death, and Social Security Disability. He has handled a wide variety of civil, criminal and domestic appellate cases in both the state and federal courts, including the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He is currently admitted to the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court, and the United States District Courts for both the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia.

Dan is married to his wife Jennifer, with whom he has three children, one really old dog, and one really young cat. Dan was previously a top fundraising cyclist for the Georgia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and is an avid reader of non-fiction and American history, a lifelong college basketball fan (which he likes to point out pre-dates even his time at Duke), and an outdoor enthusiast.
