DUI Drivers
Georgia law allows for the recovery of additional “punitive” damages where an injury is caused by an intoxicated driver. This law was enacted as a deterrent against drunk driving, and gives those personally injured by a drunk driver a measure of personal justice that a criminal DUI prosecution does not.
